THE BRAND

TonS Mosterd & Heerlijkheden is a traditional mustard and sauce maker. Ton has been making various delicious products for every bon vivant since 1978. Who doesn’t love good food? And it’s that much better with one of Ton’s sauces. Delicious and natural, because TonS products do not contain any added fragrances, colours or flavours. Ton loves real tastes and does not use any thickening agents or binding agents in his mustard or mayonnaise. The range does not contain any E numbers or other additions, either. Many of the sauces are even produced sugar-free. Tons Mosterd’s mission is to make people happy with an honest product, with a minimal impact on the environment. Tons uses organic raw materials and runs on 100% solar energy.

THE ASSIGNMENT

The assignment for TonS was very simple. Because one natural food wholesaler took a on a large part of the range, there was an opportunity to significantly increase the distribution in natural food. Ton has also introduced a sugar-free ketchup, unique in its kind and distinctive in the category. In addition to a baseline measurement of the market, it was up to GreenSprout to expand the distribution of this beautiful brand and start utilising the potential.

THE RESULT

After just one round of store visits, new opportunities and significant distribution growth have been created with independent natural food stores. Distribution growth also means more visibility on shelves, which will contribute to growth of sales and market share for Tons in the long term. Furthermore, the distribution of the entire range has been mapped, which has led to new insights.

WHAT THE CUSTOMER THINKS

“As a small producer, I have no possibility to visit all of the stores myself in addition to production, purchasing etc. Ton and Feijo have visited the most important 200 natural food stores for me in a period of about 8 weeks. The stores were shown new products, and received some POS material and samples. The extensive and insightful reports gave me a better understanding of my distribution. In some places, I immediately put the comments of retailers into action. Because this also immediately resulted in sales, the investment was already getting a bit of return! Of course, some other, non-competing products were also presented, which makes the price per visit affordable. For that price, I would not be able to have a representative for myself.
